Blue Clarity is pleased to announce our partnership with NASA and PreviewLabs, to develop a virtual reality prototype that simulates the passenger experience of commuting in an urban air taxi. This partnership comes as the result of a competitive search conducted by our colleagues at
Freelancer.com.
PreviewLabs was one of a select pool of capable partners competing for this opportunity, and in the end their deep experience, attention to detail and creative problem solving was what secured their successful bid to develop the full prototype. PreviewLab’s solution will be unveiled in April 1, 2024. Stay tuned!
Urban air taxis are a revolutionary new form of transportation that could redefine the way we live, work, and navigate through our cities. One of the key advantages of these compact electric vehicles is that they bypass traditional transportation constraints, flying above the ground, avoiding traffic congestion, and providing a direct and time-efficient mode of commuting. Urban air taxis are still in the early stages of development, and as the benefits start to emerge organizations like NASA are working to understand the ways people are impacted by the introduction of this new technology.
With this prototype, we are looking for a novel approach to recreating the passenger experience, to better understand and assess passenger comfort. This prototype will be part of a larger study, primarily serving as a way to augment higher fidelity lab based scenarios. Our partners at PreviewLabs will be driving the development of this prototype, leaning on their deep understanding of the tools and their experience of working within the constraints of HIPAA compliance.
There are a number private organizations actively working on Urban Air Mobility (UAM), and NASA is interested in helping to ensure that their efforts around UAM’s result in safer, quieter and more efficient vehicles, by leveraging science and technology that is thoroughly vetted and understood
